Camille Miceli makes history in Emilio Pucci

I was ready. It was time.”

 Camille Miceli

At the beginning of this month, the Italian house welcomed its first female creative director in its history: Camille Miceli. As of September 1, the LVMH group, with 75 signatures and more than 150,000 employees worldwide, appointed Miceli as the new artistic director for Emilio Pucci. The Florentine house had not had a full-time designer since Massimo Giorgetti’s departure in 2017. Up until 2021, its collections have been by an in-house studio team. And during this time, guest designers such as Christelle Kocher and Tomo Koizumi, among others, have been in charge of the designs.

With more than 20 years of experience and a fabulous style, Camille Miceli has been the muse of designers such as Nicolas Ghesquière, Marc Jacobs, and John Galliano. Despite having no formal training in fashion, she has grown up in this industry as part of big luxury brands such as Dior, Chanel, and Louis Vuitton.

Although her appointment is part of a recent trend: elevating accessories specialists and creators to ready-to-wear designers (Pierpaolo Piccioli at Valentino and Maria Grazia Chiuri at Dior), it also reflects Pucci’s direction with the joie de vivre that characterizes Miceli. Her plans for Pucci focus on joy and well-being, according to her statement given a few days ago to The New York Times.

On September 26, the house will present a transitional collection during Milan Fashion Week. We can expect Camille Miceli’s first collection for Emilio Pucci in 2022. And we are sure it will be a memorable event filled with personality and color.
